August beach wedding...?
I am also having a beach wedding in August!

Well, I'm not sure what you are looking for.....the first thing that I would receommend is registering at www.theknot.com, they take you through every step of planning and give you millions of ideas.

Good luck!
Reply:Have you contacted the park authorities or cities where the beaches are in to find out what you need to do to have a wedding on a beach there? A lot of public beaches won't "close" off an area of a beach for a wedding so you will have everyone on the beach attending the wedding as well because outdoor weddings attract people. I would check with the local authorities to find out what you can expect, can you do what you want to do and are there any restrictions/requirements/hoops that you have to jump through or meet before you can get married on the beach.
Reply:Okay book an venue first then the

Reply:A friend of mine had an August beach wedding in Grand Bend (across the pond from Michigan, I believe) and she had fabulous weather and everyone enjoyed themselves. You need a permit from the city (as one writer already mentioned) most likely.

Best things I've heard: you MUST have a plan B for rain. For instance, make sure the place where you have your reception can be set up last minute to hold a ceremony as well.

and: I wish I had hired a wedding planner for my own. When it's time for my kids to get married, I will hire a wedding planner for them, if they will allow me, to take the stress off the bride and to think up things that might not occur to her.

As for the custom dress: I saw a dress I really liked in a magazine but in the boutique it was nearly $2000. I hired a lady through my mother's church to make it (she had to create her own pattern, too) and I ended up paying $700.
