Ok i was watering the flowers and i saw something small and white. I picked it up and it was an egg, it was slightly cracked but i took it in to see what it was. I looked online and it sounds like a lizard egg. I took it under a light, and i saw the little body, it was kind of blackish, brownish, but for some reason i think it has some life in it. The egg was in a shaded cold planter. I heated it up and got a paper bowl and took it back outside into a planter with sun. Is it still alive? And will the mother come back? Help me please!
I found a lizard egg? help!?
Are you sure it is a lizard egg? Lizard eggs are usually leathery and kind of feel like a marshmallow. They don't crack like a bird egg. Maybe it's a bird egg with an undeveloped embryo. And with the exception of some lizards such as some of the North American species of skinks, most lizards lay their eggs and leave them. Regardless of what it is, if it's cracked open, I highly doubt there is any chance of it hatching.
Reply:Shannon,I don't know where you live. But I say you should put it back in the same spot you found it,the same way you picked it up and just leave it.It should be fine w/out interference from us humans. Also the 'mom'won't be coming back for it,most lizard species don't get ANY help from parents.
Reply:Did it move?If it did that means it is alive. The mother mite come back, but what if something happend to the mom.I think you should take the egg to a vet.Tell the vet your probems and he/she can tell you what to do.
