Why do guys make female toons/characters and play as them?

I'm referring to online gaming, City Of heroes. You see your friend "Mike" online only his toon isn't this cool muscleular guy toon, he's wearing 6 inch heals and a mini skirt and named "Flower Kitten". What's the deal with that??

Why do guys make female toons/characters and play as them?
Alot of times, we'd like a girl gamer who's EXACTLY like us, so we're left with no choice but to create a false persona. I did an experiment recently on a video game website. I joined as a guy, and joined as a girl. My guy account posted a blog about video games and things like that. It got 7 hits. The girl account posted a blog about being bored. It got 40 hits. What I'm saying is, that guy gamers are cool, but alot of times are accomplishments go unnoticed or worse, rivaled. But as a girl, we receive praise and acknowledgment for the very same accomplishments.

I hope this was helpful!
Reply:So you're saying girls never play as guys?

I beg to differ.
Reply:Well theres nothing to "differ" here but why do guys cross dress? Because they like to. It's no ones place to judge why people do what they do. Video games are an escape from reality so... why not!?
Reply:Alot of guys use the "If i have to start at a character it might as well be female" excuse, but really, it sometimes feels like they might be tempted to stare at a male character, so they choose to play as a woman.

Of course even if the above is not quite true, and they just want to play as a female cause they think the female character is sexy, it's still a bit odd in my opinion to be attracted to pixels on a computer screen.
Reply:Usually, women in games are much better looking than men. My guy friends who play as girl characters do it so they don't have to stare at an ugly guy all day.
Reply:GAY
Reply:Plus, since the majority of gamers are male, it's easier to get others to help you/give you free stuff if your character is female. Sad but true.
