Reply:FTD.com is a well known flower merchant. They won't send you any crap flowers that should have been thrown out and if you ask about it (they also have an 800#) you may be able to get a arrangement of cheaper if it isn't the high demand type flowers like roses.

Most of the image manipulation like that is done by professionals or semi-professionals and all of them, that I know, would not work on anything, but photoshop. That said, you can try some free tools available.

What is this clover or ivy-like plant?

This plant grows about 1 inch tall, and creeps along the ground. It grows very well in shade and almost as well in sun. It grows well in poor soil. Floods from poor drainage don't bother it. Its flowers are very different than ordinary white clover flowers. They're more like ordinary garden flowers, with ordinary petals, except that they're much smaller, and are a very pretty bright blue-violet color. They start blooming when the ground thaws in the spring, and bloom for about two months. The leaves are close to the size and color of clover leaves.

Reply:It is a Dutch Day Lily, you can see it if you look at blue flowers. It is considered a weed but I always thought it was pretty in NC and let it grow. 2 Dutch brothers discovered it and it has a huge long name after both of the brothers. If I chose wrong sorry, a picture would help.

Reply:I believe what you have is Lamium Amplexicaule, also known as "henbit," or "Creeping Charlie." It's considered a weed and is near impossible to get rid of post-emergent. The ones we have in the lab grow taller than one inch, but the ones in my yard are exactly as you say. The flowers remind most people of little orchids.

It grows by runners and drops seed, and is quite aggressive.

Where to buy pink toilet paper?

My roommate used to buy pink toilet paper to match the pink and light green bathroom, and is upset that now she can't find it anywhere!

I look around, searched online, and can't find any. Seems only white is available commonly.

I'd like to get it as a little surprise, something extra for her upcoming birthday. If nothing else, Angel Soft made or makes one with little pink flowers on it.

Help...Flowers are late for 50Th Anniversary cake & centerpieces?

I purchased 6+ dozen roses online to put on the wedding cake, and to use for centerpieces. FedEx didn't deliver them on time, now they say the roses are still 1300 miles away, and they MIGHT be here today.

The party is tomorrow.

I need an inexpensive backup plan in case they don't arrive. I don't want a naked wedding cake, and 10 empty vases.

Any ideas?

I hope that they get there to you! If not I would definately hit up a wholesale store like BJs or Costco. Their flowers are usually beautiful and they usually sell them in bouquets of 2 dozen that are cheaper than a dozen else where/

Reply:Unless you just have to use real flowers; I would go with silk flowers. They are beautiful and inexpensive. It sounds like you might have already made a considerable investment in the original order and the silk flowers would save you a little and look just as good.

Sounds like you are doing itllegally. The want the billing address of you credit card, that is susposed to be yours. I hope you get caught.

But when they ask you for the billing address it's only to make sure you are the owner of the credit card,they aren't going to send you any information regarding your purchase. Especially if you are buying flowers you are probably sending them to someone else and NOT to your house. No need to worry they are only trying to verify your address for security reasons

Looking for information on a Joy Aros print by Verkerke Posters?

I'm trying to find any information about an old print I have here. It's a print of a painting by Joy Aros, distributed by Verkerke Posters. I can't seem to find a stitch of information about the painting, the artist, or the poster distribution company via Google or anywhere online.

The painting is of a young girl's face, crying, with a flower next to her head. It is signed "Joy Aros" in the lower left, and my print has "Verkerke" printed in the very bottom left corner.

Okay. First, you have variously called your piece a print and a painting. It is neither. It is a photographic reproduction of a painting. The "Verkeke Posters" part should have been a tipoff. The image was mass-produced onto paper or cardboard. It is not valuable.

Second, a search on "Joy Aros" turned up a painter named "Joy Caros". The signature matches the one on your piece, and the style and subject matter are similar to her paintings on black velvet. I cannot find your particular image, but you can see her work from the 80's to the present here:

Miracle Gro... I have just started seeds (veggies & flowers)...when...?

I am not a 'green thumb' and I just planted some seeds with my son (homeschooled, he is 9 years old)...

I have Miracle Gro in my 'online store,' which I could use some for my own use...

When should I apply it to the seeds... they are growing so fast without it... I just didn't know if I should wait, because I really, don't know much about this kind of thing.

The seeds were planted on Saturday, and within about a 4-6 hour span... continually (like if I checked them that often)... we can see growth. We were gone for 12 hours today, and they were bigger by about 1/4 inch!! Some, overnight (about 8 hours last night) grew an entire inch... from under the soil... to above and completely one inch tall!!

That is seeds in a homemade, card board box with plastic wrap sides and top... and peat/soil mix in peat formed trays (to plant in the ground later).

Should I use miracle gro now... or later when I transplant them?

your seedlings do not require any fertilization whatsoever, in fact if you fertilized them now you could cause damage by burning them (chemically). It's best to wait until they are well established plants, and after they are transplanted. And of course be careful to follow the amounts set out on the label of the product you by as more is not better.

Reply:hrrm- what does the back of the dress look like?? is it just a zipper or does it tie up? if it is just a zipper then i would wear a veil that does down to about your elbows. (maybe a two tier one..??) If it ties up and has a fancy back then i wouldn't wear a veil because i would want to show off the fancy back...

Is talking about relationships online and talking in person about it that different?

I have a crush on this girl. I've liked her since 7th grade (We're 12 graders now). I mean we've been on pretty good terms ever since, but I held back tooo long when she actually started to like me back. The reason she liked me was that she thought I was deep. We would always talk about love and such over AIM. She thinks I'm too shy in person. I confessed to her that I liked her, but she wants to give us more time. I asked her to prom weeks later, and she said yes without hesitation (Well, she did ask "Are we going as friends" before she took the flowers.) We were pretty touchy during prom night.

I have a good feeling that I'm getting there, but I'm still having a hard time coming up with a conversation with her in person. It's more like I don't see her at school as much (We don't have class together at all). I mean I sometimes call her, but usually she never picks up her phone. What should I do to push that potential even further?

Okay so there's this girl that i met on facebook a few weeks ago and.....well..........I guess you can say that I like her.

We have talked on the phone and stuff and have so much in common. We kinda flirt around and she seems to like me back, atleast I hope she does. Well anyway, I haven't hung out with her yet because she has been in Hong Kong for the past 2 weeks visiting her parents.

Where can I find a cute backpack online?
I think that that backpack would be fine. That's basically the bag I had for eighth grade, and it was so helpful to be able to fit all of my stuff into it. The straps were kind of uncomfortable at times when there was alot in the backpack, though. It can carry tons of stuff and when it rains, my stuff never got wet.

I think the backpack would be great for a sophmore. It's cute, but definitely big enough.

Where can I find a good dress online?

I am in need of a few new spring dresses. I am 5' 1" with red hair and fair skin and a 34B bust.

I am looking for something comfortable conservative because I have a very prominent chest bone and I prefer to keep people's eyes on my face rather than my bust. So something that doesn't show cleavage but not all the way up to neck (aka. crew neck).

Length can be just below my knees or just above them.

Colors and paterns: no pinks or yellows but I like greens, blues, purples and black and white. Nothing too loud and solids are fine and it would be great to have a nice trim. Please no flowery dresses but a few flowers is ok.

No strapless or spagetti straps but thick straps, short sleeves or halter top are great.

Price doesn't matter.

How can I find the article about my ex boyfriend's death online?

He died in January of 2004. I don't know the date, but I know we buried him on January 22. He died in a car accident in Morgantown, WV and I wanted to see the article. He was around 19 years old. I want a copy of the article for keepsake because I'm not from that area and never got to see the obituaries. Also, I didn't go to the cemetary, only the service, and I want to know where he's buried so I can put flowers on his grave at the day of his death.

Yep, I've only heard good things about buying bulk flowers online. Go for it!

But if you're in LA or NY, go to the the flower districts. You can't go wrong at those places. I'm in LA and getting all my flowers from the flowermart.

If you are in Riverside I would go to your local Home Depot or Lowes and ask the special order desk or garden manager who their supplier is. There are dozens of growers in your area and they will sell to you at wholesale prices for that quantity. Gazania and Ice Plant are the same family and if you did not know will spread very quickly in our climate. You may want to think about cutting the amount in half and with proper irrigation in a year you will have double coverage. Also if you can at the end of the season (around November) if you can mow them over with the lawn mower set slightly higher than your grass and this will speed up growth. I don't know about the Yellow tree but the purple one is probably Crape Myrtle also a very fast grower and very showy. They come in Pink, white and purple that I know of. Good luck

Reply:You will probably have trouble because the Bay Area is very liberal, and most people favor gun control. I would suggest you try the vendors at the San Francisco Flower Market where you can find all different types of vases. Bring a picture and a vendor may know specifically who sells it.

Yes, it should grow well. I've never seen it in a garden store, only in the catalogs. The flowers are a bit waxy, not too strong a smell.

Like most bulbs, they should go in the ground in the fall.

I guess you are writing from the UK. If so, and you need a cheap website take this advice - all web development (IT) courses have loads of students that need a number of business projects. Our local college are always asking for businesses to be used as 'guinea pigs' for their students and the results are better that you would (perhaps) expect - the cost is zero - maybe there will be a small charge from your local college.

Once you've got your website you will need to get people to come to it. The only way to do this is by using an Internet Marketing service - look at http://www.optillion.co.uk

I have been using polymer clay for about 6 years now. I think you are asking about polymer clay caning. It it a very detailed process, but I have many dsites bookmarked for reference.

Reply:Try this. Take a small ball of fimo and press a button into it. You might have to go through a lot of buttons in a button can to find the perfect ones. I always like my grandmother's button can. Pick out some fancy buttons but not too big, you might even want to use some of them in your jewelry. You could also press a little ball of fimo with two buttons as the same time. Add holes with a paper clip opened out and set aside for the oven. Have Fun! :)

If you use my other tip first and lay coils together to make a flower (view from the end) roll together and cut off little pieces with a string. (Wrap string all the way around and pull gently but firmly.) Then press between two flower buttons, you will have a very fancy bead. :)

Most local garden stores have those paperback books with lots of nice pictures in them, about orchids. There are a lot of different varieties, so a book would help a lot. Orchids often look overgrown for their pots, but aren't necessarily. The real determining factors regarding repotting would be: Does the potting medium have a foul or somewhat moldy odor? Does the potting medium look broken down - becoming granular like regular soil, or is the bark getting dark brown and a little soggy when wet? The best way to determine whether your orchid needs "attention to its potting situation", is to take it out of its pot and examine the roots, along with the bark. Do the roots look nice and white, possibly a little greenish, and very firm? Or do they look very grey or brown and seem soggy or squishy when wet? If they seem squishy, then see if the covering pulls right off like it is papery, exposing a little "string" inside. If the roots are grey and squishy (not firm) when wet, or when dry, the covering just pulls right off and it is not green inside, then you will need to trim them off, so they don't rot in the pot. Sometimes a lovely plant will loose a lot of root growth if it was allowed to dry out for excessive periods of time, or was kept in old and degrading potting medium. If you find that the plant has a lot of dead roots and not very fresh potting medium, (which should look like small fresh bark chunks), then you may choose to give it attention, but don't run for a larger pot, yet. Pull or cut off the dead roots. Pull all of the old potting medium from around all of the remaining good roots, taking care not to break or damage any of the healthy roots, and especially try not to break off the little green root-tips on any actively growing roots. Please don't leave any old potting medium in the pot, as it will just rot any remaining roots. Once you have removed everything except good roots, you can determine if it can go back into its old pot, a smaller pot if it has lost a lot of roots, or a larger pot if it happens to be a terribly healthy plant that did not really have any root loss in the first place. Orchids don't like very big pots. You don't want a pot that will always be falling over due to the top of the plant being excessively large for the pot, but you do want a pot that will allow the remaining outside roots to come in contact with the pot walls. If you have too much room around the roots, the potting medium will remain wet too long, and the roots will rot. Most orchids (but not all) prefer to be a little cramped in their pots, rather than overpotted, and if necessary, you can even curl some of the longer roots around to fit in the pot. Put the plant in the pot you have chosen. Center it, and if there are any "leads" (little shoots) growing out , make sure they have some room to grow on whatever side they are growing toward. Start putting the bark/potting mix into the pot. Keep holding the plant in place while you do this. Push the mix down with your fingers, or tap the pot on the counter gently to make the bark pieces settle to the bottom. Put more in until it seems pretty full, and push down again with your fingers, but be careful not to damage the roots. Try to get the plant to seem pretty "solid" in the pot, so it is not wiggling around, too much. If needed, you can use tape or wire to secure the plant until it grows into the pot. Thoroughly drench the potting medium and then place in an area where all of the excess water will run out of the pot. The plant should never sit in a saucer, as the potting medium can become water-logged which is bad for the plant. Place in the location you have decided is best for the plant, and mist the surface of the bark daily in the early part of the day. You can pour water through the pot once or twice a week, but make sure it can run through. The misting will help to encourage new root growth. Find a book for the rest of the details, and good luck with your orchid.

Reply:don't know. but what i know about orchids is you should keep them in a pot that can breathe or at least drain, and that they absorb moisture from the air so there is no need to overwater them but keep them moist is good enuf, other than that they are pretty easy, especially if you already live in a humid climate.

This may sound weird, but it is called a drowning rose.

You take a clear vase. Put colour rocks with your wedding colours in the bottom, in the meantime you take a silk rose of a different colour and anchor it under the rocks so that the rose stands straight up. Then fill the vase with water and put a floating candle on the top.

Very inexpensive and looks absolutely beautiful as weird as it sounds.

Omit centerpieces and just sprinkle the tablecloths with black, purple, and silver confetti. (Big piece confetti, not little pieces that might get in people's food.)

One good idea to save money is to get all the vases or bowls for your centerpieces at the Goodwill. They do not all have to match exactly-- they can just all be the same theme (perhaps look for them all to be clear glass with silver trim, or something, as the unifying theme). They always have a ton of mismatched things like that for like 50 cents each. You might even be able to find small silvery candelabras secondhand, and use purple candles.

IKEA's marketplace area is another place you can get centerpiece containers really cheap.

I don't mean to be unkind, but that is sort of a odd and difficult color scheme, to choose for June. Sorry, just my opinion on that.

Reply:What about cheap pic. frames with a photo of the couple? Black and white photos would go with your colors, and you can get silver or black frames at Walmart for like, a dollar. Or try the dollar stores too.

Surrond the frames with purple silk flower petals... makes the flowers go further...and silver confetti. This sounds like colors for an evening wedding, so twinkling votive candles would be a romantic touch. Try placing them on little mirrored tiles (about 1.00 at home depot), it really makes a neat effect.

Reply:For my wedding I didn't want flowers as my centerpiece being that 1- they turn out to be very expensive when you have 30 tables to decorate and 2- the flowers die in a few days ( money down the drain). So I decided to order Candelabras about 2 feet high . They actually came out cheaper than the flowers and also made the tables look very elegant. I love the candle look. I set the Candelabra centered in the table, I then put 4 small votives at the base of the candelabra and the finishing touch was colored gems ( to match my color theme) sprawled along the Ivory colored table linen. I actually went to the reception hall weeks before the wedding, I completely decorated 1 table and stood from afar to look at it....it looked great. You put it in the ground in the spring over where the peony is coming up and the plant grows up through the grid. Works better than single stakes on larger peonies with many stems.
Reply:I have the same flowers in my yard. They are Peonies. They will keep coming up year after year. They smell great and are beautiful flowers. To keep them very healthy and coming back each year, cut them back to the ground when the leaves die down. You can't just plant the flower, you need to dig up the bulbs from somewhere and replant them. Or get some from a friend.

Reply:What you picked is a peony. They are an old timey shrub type plant that are found in the Southeast as well. They come in many colors, and my mother has some her yard that were given to her. Hers are from 100 year old stock from a peony farm. The blooms are pink, and as big around as a teacup saucer. They are also very fragrant. To keep them full and with plenty of blooms, most folks mow them down in the fall. They come back up nice and bushy.

Can you identify this yellow flowering tree?

I live on the California central coast and a friend gave me one of the many little trees that pop up from tree's bean-like seeds.

My tree is now over 8 feet tall and wide after 2 years. The blossoms are 5-petal school bus yellow about 1.5" and in cooler weather the whole tree is covered with hundreds. The blooms are in clusters of about 20. The dark green leaves

are like on locusts trees, only smaller, in strands opposite each other. The strands are 3" long. The beans, 1/2" across, 5" long, drop off in fall.

The tree architecture is open. It seems full from a distance but upclose it is easy to see right thru the tree. The branches a warm gray, very slim and when loaded with blooms tend to droop a bit.

I tried our county extension service, and looked at hundreds of photos online. It must be a native tree because plant/seed companies don't seem to have it. The stamen is green and about inch long.

My friend calls it the "popcorn tree" but it looks nothing like what I find online

Reply:Sounds like it might be a laburnum, or golden chain tree. You didn't describe the flowers, but from the fruit and the described similarity of leaves to locust it seems like something in the Fabaceae.

Joye, Thank you for the sad update. I have spoken to my mother this morning. She lives in Austin, Texas. She will include Debra and her family in the prayers of her group. "The prayer warriors."

If God willing, Debra lives and is conscious again, I have asked my mother to mail her a prayer shawl. Mother is in a group that knits and crochets beautiful shawls. The shawls are placed on the alter of her church. The entire congregation prays for the recipient of the shawl. The minister blesses the shawl. It is then given to the person prayed for.

Let's all pray our Debra is well enough to accept the gift.
