I am thinking of starting an online store for selling my Wedding flowers and accessories. I have tried ebay - Too costly, as I like to keep my prices down for brides on a budget. I have been looking at Yahoo's Ecommerce Merchants starter and am wondering if anyone out there uses it and do you actually get business. I have been doing this for over 20 years and am trying to expand to the online world. Thanks for any help, advise, experience that you can give me.
Does anyone know how well Yahoo Ecommerce works.?
I think years ago, I looked into it, but I have been using paypal, free to set up, money goes directly into my account, I get emailed the orders, it was so easy. you can get a free website at microsoft live, and they show you how to drive traffic to your site, you can also check the search engines for free advertising and put your website everywhere you can, there are lots of free sites. A good one I found was www.countyloop.com, I have my avon site there, its an online yellow pages
Reply:http://www.doggydomains.com has a quick shopping cart that makes setting up an online store quick and easy. It's not too expensive either.
Reply:Yahoo is a decent cart, you certainly can make them successful, however the basic packages are pretty limited as far as customizations and other necessity tools you may need in the future. It's great to start out on, but may not be able to grow with your business over time (not scalable).
If you are looking to save some cash, I would recommend using a Wordpress site with cart plugins or something like Shopify.
You will want to research the marketing tools that come along with each of the carts you research as these are some of the most important aspects (helps you to get exposure which in turn should get you some sales).
Take a look at this page for a list of many shopping cart providers ...

We are in the process of reviewing each, but for now all you have to do to see what one offers is Google their name and take a look!
