I have a Venus fly trap i don't want to kill it, can you help?

I bought a Venus fly trap from the grocery store and i have been following the different information i found online but i seem not to be able to keep it alive. This is my second one and i live in an area that is actually mild temps with high humidity which is very similar to where they originate in the Carolinas. I have it in a small terrarium and and transplanted it into a larger pot for root growth. the soil was balanced for it. My question is tips about temp and flowering and how long does it take to grow traps? or any other tips.

thank you

The Venus fly trap is really not a hard plant to grow. It sounds like you are doing everything about right. From a good bit of experience with them, I can tell you what your problem is. The plant has been badly mishandled before you got it. This is almost always the problem when fly traps are bought in grocery stores, discount stores etc. It is not uncommon that the plants are so far gone that they can't recover with proper care. Don't give up on your fly trap, but don't be too surprised if it don't make it. Spend a little bit more and get a plant in good condition from a good plant nursery. You will come out ahead in the long run.
Reply:it takes a while for it to grow and try to imitate tropical temp so hot and humide
Reply:Warm and humid is good, misting the plant with water from a spray bottle is better and helps prevent root rot. Also they don't "eat" as much as you think, and it takes awhile to "digest" the fly or hamburger (raw). Also the plant gives of a little bit of a foul odor so it can attract flies.
