Is it true that Delores in french means flower?

Hi, my name is Delores, i dont know why my parents gave me that name but from what i found out, i was named after someone. I know the spanish meaning of Delores which is why i hate it, but i was told i was named after the french meaning instead, i asked my mum and she said yes....it meant flower. I just want to be sure, because i searched online and all i see is the spanish meaning. If mum was wrong i am offically having a name change! Names have great meaning. And the spanish Delores is the exact oppposite to my middle native name. Imagine!

in addition to being a variant of the name "Dolores", Delores means quite the opposite of flower...it's actually Spanish and means "sorrow"...sorry to bring bad news!

In French Flowers is Fleurs, I guess your mother was lied to.

Delores is not a French name at all, you may find some indeed who are children of the Spanish migrants during Franco's regime. In French, Delores is Douleurs.

You should be named Fleur, it does really exist.
Reply:The first name, closest to "flower" in French, is "Flore" - not "Delores". I personally never came across anyone named "Fleur" in France; only in "Harry Potter" (Fleur Delacour, the girl from Beaubaton in the fourth volume).
