Italian speakers, please translate this into English? It's the lyrics of a song.?

All I can figure out is something about love, longing, testimonial, moon and flowers, nature...from the very limited vocab that I know.

Vaga luna, che inargenti

Queste rive e questi fiori

Ed inspiri, ed inspiri agli elementi

Il linguaggio, il linguaggio dell'amor;

Testimonio or sei tu sola

Del mio fervido desir,

Ed a lei, ed a lei che m'innamora

Conta i palpiti, i palpiti e i sospir.

Dille pur che lontananza

Il mio duol non puo lenir,

Che se nutro, se nutro una speranza,

Ella è sol, si, ella è sol nell'avvenir.

Dille pur che giorno e sera

Conto l'ore del dolor,

Che una speme, una speme lusinghiera

Mi conforta nell'amor.

I couldn't type some of the special letters (like o with a ` on top) and replaced them with the closest letter...so please forgive me. It's a song by the Italian composer Bellini and the tune is beautiful. Only thing is I don't understand most of what I'm trying to sing...lol. Online dictionaries aren't helping a whole lot, obviously. Thanks!

When I need a translation for an aria, lied, or art song, I use http://www.recmusic.org/lieder/

I can always find translations and info about the composers and librettists. Here's the English poetic translation from there (done by Antonio Giuliano):

Lovely moon, you who shed silver light

On these shores and on these flowers

And breathe the language

Of love to the elements,

You are now the sole witness

Of my ardent longing,

And can recount my throbs and sighs

To her who fills me with love.

Tell her too that distance

Cannot assuage my grief,

That if I cherish a hope,

It is only for the future.

Tell her that, day and night,

I count the hours of sorrow,

That a flattering hope

Comforts me in my love.
Reply:hmmm... I couldn't make a whole lot out of it

since not all the correct characters are there,

also I'm not very good at Italian at all! So forgive me...

lmao

Moon rambles, than ..... something... lol

These rivers and these flowers And inspiri, and inspiri to the elements the language, the language of the amor; I testify or six single you

Of my fervent one desir,

And to she, and she that m' innamora Conta the throbbings, the throbbings and the sospir.

Dille also that distance mine duol not puo lenir,

Than if nutro, if nutro a hope, She is sol, she is sol in happening.

Dille also that day and evening

Account the hours of the dolor,

Than a speme, a speme lusinghiera relieves to Me in the amor.
