My dad past away and i want to get a memorial tattoo but not a normal script or anything. When my dad was in the hospital there was this red dragonfly that would hang out in my backyard. It would let us get close enough to take a good picture with a camera phone!
Long story short.... We came accross soemthign that said dragonflies carry the souls of those who have passed. So i thought a dragonfly would be a great idea since it had signifigance. But i dont dont want a normal cute drangonfly, i want one that really looks like a dragonfly... what do you guys think.. could it be cute or is it too weird looking...
I was thinking about something like this... minus the flower

what do you think?
What do you think of this tattoo? *pic*?
i think the dragonfly tattoo is an awesome tattoo idea!
that pic of the dragonfly would look awesome if you got it done by a professional!
good luck
Reply:I adore dragonflys please get one showing the wings as they remind me of angels
Reply:it's a little weird, but i like it. very unique and special. go for it!
Reply:first of all let me say im sorry to hear about your father. well i LOVE the idea and what it repesents, but that thing is ugly! lol...
Reply:I'm sorry about your loss and my condolences. I, however must agree with MaryJane (hope we can split the points....lol), because that one is a bit more appealing to the eye. Granted it is a memorial tattoo, but it should also be appealing to someone that may look at it depending on what you are wearing. HOWEVER, they both leave room for possible future inscriptions....if that is the case then perhaps if the pic you have is neatened up a bit then yeah run with that one. If you are only having the dragonfly done....then get the one MaryJane (or is it AmyJane) showed. Still yet.....lol, the fact that it is near the flower which possibly could represent the taking/carrying of the soul is closer in meaning than hers. But it is a cool tat either way.
Reply:i think it would be amazing. its such a unique but really significant way to remember your dad. im so sorry you lost him.
Reply:aww you should totally get it, since it has a meaning, and a nice one at that.. i think you should get it :)
Reply:thats weird i wouldnt get a tatoo with a bug on it
but it your deicisions whether u like it or not
Reply:So lovely. Absolutely do it. Just make sure you find an artist who is good at finer linework and who uses a red you like (talk to the artist and check portfolios!). Best of luck, love.
Reply:aw i love itt you should do it
Reply:It's a little creepy looking, just because it is so bug eyed and close. A little too realistic, for my tastes. The front view is probably what turns me off.
This one is a little prettier in my opinion:

Reply:Just the fact of what it signifies would be enough for me. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't think twice about it. It's nice to think your dad would be a part of you forever.
Reply:What a beautiful story! I've heard that about dragonflies and I think it's a brilliant idea! I love the colors of the dragonfly in the picture too! I think your idea is really cool. It's definitely original and as long as it holds meaning to you, it's worth getting.
Best of luck!
Reply:Sure why not? Go for it!
Reply:Ooh, I like it! Dragonflies are usually cutesy and corny as tattoos, I like the idea of getting a less pretty, more realistic one.
